Music to Keep You Sane During Your Divorce! She Said!

After my divorce I became a running fiend, running up to 30 miles a week, the more stressed I was the more I ran, I think working out in any form during and after your divorce is a great stress buster and of course gives you an opportunity to get fit, looking good in the process. I listened to a variety of music but certain songs always made me run faster feel better and dream bigger.

Michael Buble—It’s a Beautiful Life

Great song its upbeat vibe and tongue in cheek words help you stay upbeat and appreciate that over all despite even your divorce it is indeed a beautiful life.

Aerosmith—Jaded

I love love this song, little melodramatic, but I do really love it, divorce can be jading it’s a long laborious process and even makes the best of us feel jaded, which is ok just remember you are not the only one, we all have moments of this.

Bonnie Tyler–Holding out for a Hero

Ok no laughing at this pick, but come on it’s a classic and great workout running song, good beat, and we all secretly are hoping and holding out for that hero.

No Doubt—It’s My Life

This song sums up that of course it is our life, we only get one as far as I am aware of you cant waste it or let others dictate the life you lead, you want personal happiness, then you need to live it believe it go for it, no redo.

Nelly Furtado—I’m Like a Bird

Who hasn’t felt like this after a break up or divorce? The feeling of freedom the feeling that you do indeed just want to run away, obviously it’s not a realistic life plan but a very relatable song for your new found freedom.

Pink–Who Knew

Pink well I could add just like pill and a bunch of her other songs to this work out list, what’s not to love about her songs beats and the empowering feeling most of her songs give us, we need to be strong to channel our inner pink while we work off our stress.

Kate Voegle –Its Only Life

Brilliant song, great reminder that no matter what struggle we are going through it is “only life” we are going through what millions of people before us have endured and a million people after will, I think this knowing that so many others survived it gives us inner strength and hope.

Fergie—Big Girls Don’t Cry

What’s great about this song is that of course big girls and boys do in fact cry, I cried so many tears running, I totally stopped caring if any one saw, I would just leave my sunglasses on and run, a really good cry actually can be quite stress relieving and positive in the long run, don’t feel you always have ro hold it in. Its totally ok to feel vastly different emotions even day to day, embrace them, work out or cry your way through them and remember this too shall pass

Ryan Star-Breathe

Breathe well when you are very stressed like during your divorce you often forget to take long deep breathes, you hold it all in the tension builds in your neck back and body, remembering to take deep long breathes literally throughout the day can cut down on stress and oxygenate your body making you feel better naturally.

La Roux –Bullet Proof

We may not literally be bullet proof but often through your divorce you will have a lot of unkind words or actions thrown your direction by exes or family members or friends it’s important to harden yourself a little to peoples unkindness don’t let them get to you and try as you can to let things roll off you, you know the truth and this should be good enough to anyone, inner personal peace.

Andy Grammer-Keep Your Head Up

Divorce has to be one of  the top 3 reasons in your life you really do need to keep your head up, for the sake of your children and for your own sake, don’t let anyone make you feel like a failure or a loser for not being able to make your marriage work. We are all entitled to own personal happiness.

Train–50 ways to Say Good Bye

This song makes me laugh and this is always a great thing, the more you can keep your sense of humor during your divorce the better. I am that annoying person who can fins humor on almost any situation no matter how dark, I truly believe this helps you heal faster in the long run

Kelly Clarkson—Stronger (what doesn’t kill you)

Self-explanatory divorce will make your stronger whether you want it to or not, you will survive , you will move on and the more positive you keep your attitude and the harder you work, and bigger you dream ,will make your life quicker better.

Rob Thomas-Little Wonders

This song, I listened to in so many dark hours during my divorce I totally lost track of how many times I played it. Letting it go, letting everything go means your are on your way to happiness, no matter what your present or future life looks like unless you let go of the anger, the pain, the hurt, the unjustness of your divorce you will never get it over and can’t possibly move forward in a positive manner, so do daily work on letting it all go, sell your items, forgive, make a conscience choice to be happy take time for yourself and embrace your new found divorcee life.

Music moves you, can help heal the heart and combined with exercise I think it really can do wonders in a practical sense to help you through your divorce process.
